Carbon rods (small-sized graphite electrodes) are made from petroleum coke as raw material and coal tar pitch as binder. They are processed through calcination - batching - kneading - forming - baking - (high power: impregnation - secondary baing are needed) - machining. They are installed onto the burners to heat up and open tapping holes. After being powered on, they release energy in the form of an electric arc to heat the furnace holes. When the furnace holes are opened, the molten iron flows from the chute into the molten iron ladle for pouring.
